Join us for our Facilitation Workshop Series

Our Workshops offer creative, practical tools for making ordinary moments into meaningful opportunities for experiential education. Led by experienced youth educators, you'll learn fundamental facilitation techniques and hands-on activities including ice-breakers, team building, and theater games that you can apply and adapt into your work with participants of all ages. At this event you will network with other local Teaching Artists, while learning applicable teaching techniques that you can apply to your artistry. You will also have the opportunity to speak with a mainstages team member about open roles within the organization that align with your interest.

Managing Difficult Behavior

Session Description:  Any experienced educator will tell you that managing a group of kids is the key to facilitating an effective lesson. In this workshop, participants will learn proven techniques to engage kids of all ages, keep them focused and avoid disciplinary action. Through positive reinforcement and setting clear expectations participants will study the tools to have kids they teach in the palm of their hands.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will learn techniques for managing  large and/or energized groups.
  • Participants will use problem solving to identify issues in Behavioral Management case studies.
  • Participants will gain a greater understanding of diverse classroom management philosophies.
